The facility is easy to get to using SEPTA bus routes G and 105 which stop at the parking lot entrance. Saunders also has ample parking available for visitors and staff.
We have a positive team environment and are looking for a Full-time or Part-time Cook to join the team working on the 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM and/or the 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM shifts.
Position Responsibiities include:- Prepare food items for each production sheet for each meal following standardized recipes, meal counts, portion sizes and special function items on a timely basis. Follows appropriate sanitaty guidelines when cooking to prevent cross contamination of food and food spoilage.
- Tastes all food produced for proper appearance, flavor, and texture according to the standardized recipes.
- Presents all food items in an appetizing manner as verified by the Supervisor on duty.
- Records tempuratures for each meal on weekly temperature log sheet for residents' food. Checks that all cold food items are less than 40 degrees and all hot items are above 160 degrees.
- Food temperatures that are not appropriated will be reheated or chilled according to policy. Follows all tray line procedures as outlines in the policy manual as demonstrated by the ability to work the tray line with attention to accuracy of the contents of the tray and maintaine speed necessary for the efficient operation of the tray line.
- Responsible for prep work and pulling all food items as indicated for production following appropriate handling and storage procedures.
- Responsibile for special function production as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Follows and adheres to each resident's diet and menu choices. Responsibile for knowing all Saunders Center therapeutic, mechanically altered diets and liquid thickness levels. Must know how to prepare food items as indicated on the production sheet.
- Discards any food that is outdated in walk-ins and reach in freezer and refrigeration.
- Cleans all work areas and equipment prior to check out.
- Checks out with Supervisor prior to clocking out for the day to ensure all work assignments are completed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by department and facility needs.
- At least 2 years of cooking experience within a healthcare setting
- Serv-Safe certification preferred
- Must have experience operating all cooking equipment used in food service.
