Mobile Vehicle Inspector II – Manheim Express (Tucson, AZ)

Join Cox Automotive Inc. as a Mobile Vehicle Inspector II, based in Tucson, AZ, where you will conduct comprehensive vehicle condition inspections on client lots and support the Manheim Marketplace.

Primary Duties &

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a thorough vehicle inspection.
  • Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer/clients’ lot safely.
  • Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate vehicle information into the inspection system to correct VIN, mileage, and subseries.
  • Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results including damage, missing or inoperable items.
  • Inspect and record vehicle exterior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components.
  • Inspect and record the vehicle interior condition, including seats, dashboard, and options.
  • Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles (powertrain, drivetrain, electrical components).
  • Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management.
  • Pivot and adapt to changes in daily appointments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of each dealer visit.
  • Develop strong knowledge of clients in the territory and collaborate with partners to keep them active with Manheim mobile inspections through regular, proactive on‑lot engagement.
  • Leverage data and insights from partners to maximize volume of units inspected on dealer lots.
  • Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador, providing a premier client experience by interfacing regularly with core clients and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the Wholesale Specialist team, peers, other Manheim work groups, and auctions.
  • Utilize  for reporting, lead input and customer performance reviews.
  • Understand NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.
  • Work in a continuous improvement/lean environment and encourage lean culture.
  • Maintain production expectations set by the leader.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors; actively participate in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience & Specialist Knowledge and Skills
  • High School Diploma/GED required and at least 3 years of experience.
  • Automotive knowledge preferred (body and mechanical).
  • 1‑2 years of any automotive related experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
  • Travel 100% – reliable transportation required; reimbursement program dependent on miles driven.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong technical aptitude; detail oriented.
  • Experience in navigating handheld and other documentation devices preferred.
  • Motivated to work independently with remote supervision.
  • Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction.
  • Body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge helpful; familiarity with unibody and full‑frame helpful.
  • Ability to lift and hold at least 30 lbs. at waist level for an extended period.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to crouch, bend, and kneel to examine vehicle sides, underneath, hood, trunk; ability to reach inside or underneath.
  • Near vision required to detect dings, scratches, paint work, hail damage, frame/unibody, exterior and interior damage; identify exterior or interior colors.
  • Ability to handle different lighting conditions (exterior and interior, natural and artificial).
  • Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute duties within required time frames to meet business requirements.
Compensation

Hourly pay rate: $14.90–$22.40 per hour, varying based on location and candidate experience. Eligible for an annual incentive/commission target of $6,000.

Benefits

Employees receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off each month and seven paid holidays per year. Additional paid time off is available for bereavement, voting, jury duty, volunteer time, military leave, and parental leave.
