OverviewAs a Lead Vehicle Test Technician, reporting to the Manager for Vehicle Validation, you will instrument vehicles for testing in dynamics, durability, noise and vibration, and performance disciplines. You will collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve data‑acquisition problems and support engineering prototype builds.
Responsibilities- Build state‑of‑the‑art automotive prototype vehicle systems and subsystems
- Work closely with Design Engineers to identify potential assembly and service issues
- Work efficiently within a multidisciplinary cooperative environment
- Evaluate engineering prototypes on the road to acquire various types of data
- Service instrumentation systems and wire harnesses
- Proficient with wiring and sensor installation and checkout
- Able to diagnose basic wiring problems
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and possible overtime; support test trips up to 20% travel in the Midwest US and occasional trips to California HQ
- Basic computer skills for issue reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional ability and desire to learn new skills and tools, and to apply oneself in a dynamic lean start‑up environment
- Proof of excellence in past positions, demonstrating creativity in resolving mechanical problems
- 5 years automobile technician experience
- Valid US driver’s license
- Degree in Automotive Technology, ASE Certification, or equivalent professional vehicle service expertise
- Associate’s degree or equivalent training
- Experience working on fully electric vehicles
- Professional race team experience
- Fabrication and wiring experience
- Luxury automotive technician experience
