We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery for a locum tenens position near Cameron, AZ. This opportunity is perfect for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery PA looking for flexible work options and the ability to provide critical support in both scheduled and on-call capacities. The role is expected to start ASAP and will continue on an ongoing basis.
Position Overview- Location: Near Cameron, AZ
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: Ongoing
- Shift Type: Day Shift with on-call requirements
- Shift Schedule:
- Day Shifts: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- On-Call: 3:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Monthly Commitment: 10 days per month (September-January), with flexible shift options
- Practice Setting: Hospital-based, with a focus on Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Support Staff: Working closely with a Cardiothoracic Surgeon
- Patient Volume: 10-15 CVICU/step-down patients per day, plus 1-2 surgeries
- Patient Demographics: Adults and geriatrics
- Department: Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Hospital Bed Size: 199 beds
- EMR System: Cerner
- Special Procedures:
- Temporary pacemaker removal
- Chest tube removal
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) removal
- Arterial line (Aline) placement
- Skills:
- Recent experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
- Board Certification: Required
- Licensing: Must be licensed or eligible for licensing as a Physician Assistant in the state of Arizona
- DEA: Required
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association) required
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Cardiothoracic Surgery with EVH experience
- Education:
- Physician Assistant: Graduate from a program approved by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Or: Masters Degree in Nursing with appropriate certifications
- Advanced Practice Nurses: Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program and an RN/NP First Assistant Program with an unrestricted Arizona APRN license
