The candidate will work with the school garden project of the Federally Recognized Tribal Extension Program (FRTEP). This project teaches participating students the basic scientific knowledge of growing vegetables and fruits, as well as the health benefits of the nutrition they provide, and the physical activity associated with gardening. This position will provide support in overseeing the students in the various indoor and outdoor classroom activities at the school gardens, as well as the maintenance of the school garden itself.

Member Duties : Integrate science and math concepts into the gardening lessons & teach them to students participating in the school garden project; incorporate Math concepts into 4-H gardening-related activities; work with the students and teachers in the monitoring and maintaining the school gardens, including but not limited to weeding, irrigation, and pest monitoring; maintain a record of activities and communicate project needs to the FRTEP Extension Educator.

Skill requirements:
Communicate effectively and work with Elementary & Junior High students;
Knowledge in gardening and the local environment;
Excellent written & verbal communication skills;
Computer

Skills:

Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite; & Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions. Member will receive professional development training – Master Gardener Training.
