HS Welding/Shop Teacher position at Rock Point Community School

Responsibilities
  • Support and comply with the Rock Point Community School philosophy, mission, and vision statement.
  • Complete four (4) hours of Prevention of Sexual Harassment training annually.
  • Complete two (2) hours of SCAN procedures and reporting annually.
  • Ensure confidentiality in accordance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act).
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Maintain class records such as Individual Learning Education Plans, data, student cumulative folders, class charts, daily attendance, grades, and progress reports.
  • Prepare curriculum guide and lesson plans according to AZCCRS and school district approved guidelines, covering grade‑appropriate units, daily objectives, special education accommodations, formative assessments, and instructional strategies.
  • Implement Response To Intervention (RTI) as scheduled by Instructional Leadership.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate individual and group academic progress using formative assessments, criterion‑referenced tests, periodic standardized tests, oral tests, and classroom data.
  • Provide instruction at DOK 2 or higher, using instructional scaffolding to make content accessible and meaningful.
  • Participate actively in professional development opportunities, both within and outside the school, addressing needs identified from classroom walk‑through data.
  • Provide assessments at the correct level of difficulty, aligned to standards‑based objectives, and engage learners in demonstrating knowledge and skills.
  • Use data to drive instruction, document progress, and adjust lessons to meet student learning needs.
  • Contribute meaningfully to PLCs and PODs, giving and receiving feedback on instruction and sharing responsibility for student learning.
  • Involve families in goal setting, expectations for student learning, and achievement of goals.
  • Contact parents regularly regarding behavioral or discipline issues and positive behavior.
  • Turn in lesson plans as requested by the building principal.
  • Maintain the gradebook in NASIS, submitting at least two‑three grades per class weekly.
  • Seek and accept leadership roles to facilitate school‑wide efforts for a shared vision, supportive culture, common goals, and progress monitoring.
  • Provide a safe learning environment that motivates student learning, offers choices, builds understanding, assesses outcomes, and fosters belonging.
  • Implement specific instructional strategies provided by instructional leaders through coaching and professional development with fidelity and consistency.
  • Incorporate technology into instruction regularly.
  • Provide accommodations and modifications for students with learning disabilities, EL, GT students; collaborate with ESS teachers and paraprofessionals to meet IEP goals.
  • Be available to students and parents for Parent Teacher Conferences, IEP meetings, and other educational purposes outside instructional time when required or requested.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of all supplies, materials, and equipment in the classroom.
  • Attend staff meetings, NWEA data days, Child Study Teams, Curriculum Committee meetings, and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Monitor and supervise students as assigned by the Building Principal.
  • Establish, maintain, and support positive working relationships with all colleagues, departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders, including online communication such as social media usage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • AZ Department of Education Teacher Certification in an approved area or endorsement.
  • BA in an educational‑related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Dine language, culture, history, traditions, and people for compliance in all educational programs.
  • Current CPR & First Aid certification and basic safety training.
  • Valid government‑issued driver’s license or identification card.
  • Federal, Arizona, and Navajo Nation background clearances.
  • Must complete all required DOI training modules (FISSA, Defensive Driving, Security Awareness, etc.).
