Site Manager, Wind – The AES Corporation

This is a regular full-time management position reporting to the wind facility's AES team lead. The role requires strong leadership, safety focus, excellent communication, and the ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Responsibilities- Oversee and ensure contractual requirements are met between all entities involved in the project.
- Collaborate with internal and external entities to schedule maintenance, repair, and warranty work at the facility.
- Maintain facility compliance with regulatory entities (OSHA, NERC, CAISO, environmental).
- Source and manage third-party service contractor work at the facility.
- Directly manage all balance of plant duties, including substation, transmission line, road maintenance, vegetation control, landowner concerns, and building maintenance.
- Foster relationships with project participants (OEM operations, landowners, purchasing off-takers, interconnected utilities, contractors, etc.).
- Respond to outages and facilitate repairs; maintain 24/7 emergency response for the facility.
- Provide oversight and monitoring of OEM operations.
- Assist in creating and managing the facility’s operating budget.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in plant maintenance, operations, or related technical fields; high school diploma with 5–8 years experience acceptable for some candidates.
- Experience with wind turbines and systems; wind industry experience (Vestas) is a plus.
- Computer proficiency and CMMS experience (SAP).
- Strong safety knowledge and ability to promote safety improvements.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically diverse organization; excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of site equipment (wind turbine generators, substations, SCADA) and high voltage maintenance.
- Willingness to climb towers up to 400 feet and meet weight requirements.
- Valid US driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
- High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical education or training preferred.
- Equipment operator experience helpful; NERC and NFPA 70E are relevant credentials; high voltage training is beneficial.
- Outdoor work at wind power plants in varied weather; dusty, hot, cold, and winter conditions.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and entering equipment to inspect or collect data.
- PPE required (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear protection).
- Possible work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
- Occasional travel; overtime and non-standard hours as needed.
