Project Engineer role at Saiia Construction Company LLC, a Mas Tec Company
Location:
Joseph City, Arizona. The multi‑year project supports public health and the transition to cleaner energy sources. Saiia Construction, an industrial heavy civil contractor, will leverage its extensive machinery, workforce, and experience across 11 states to complete this project.
- Interpret designs and drawings for Superintendents and Foremen in the field.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and Site Supervision to resolve drawing interpretation issues, conflicts, interferences, and errors.
- Perform drafting, digitizing, mapping, graphical presentations, and quantity takeoffs to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
- Assist Superintendent and Foreman in the field to provide necessary survey control lines and elevations for accurate grading and correct installation of materials.
- Ensure the most current drawings for all phases of the project are issued to the appropriate parties.
- Administer FTP site or other system for transfer and maintenance of drawings for the BOP contract between owner, subcontractors, and prime contractor.
- Maintain a current drawing log updated with revision numbers and issuance dates.
- Track production of all phases of work and complete production reports on a weekly basis.
- Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists, sketches, material requirement calculations, etc.
- Verify all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare documents required for project meetings.
- Lead project meetings in the Project Manager’s absence.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to properly budget and phase code the project.
- Provide initial review and approval of project related invoices in the accounting system.
- Work with Project Manager to prepare monthly billings.
- Work with Project Manager to prepare job set‑up forms for new projects.
- Schedule equipment and materials for projects.
- Create T&M timesheets as needed, obtain client approval, and submit in remote time entry system.
- Work with Project Manager on budget cost transfer requests on projects.
- Work with Project Manager on cost to complete projections and monthly job status reports.
- Work with Project Manager on creating budgets for new projects.
- Work with Project Manager on documentation related to change order management.
- Work with estimating to prepare a draft estimate in Hard Dollar including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontract requirements.
- Perform additional assignments per Division Manager’s request.
- Coal ash remediation / CCR experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with job costing, scheduling, and estimating contract changes preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent modeling software.
- Experience with construction estimating and scheduling software preferred, but not required.
- Able to effectively organize numerous streams of information.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
- Minimum one‑year experience in a Project Engineering role with a construction‑based organization is preferred; a Co‑Op program in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management may satisfy minimum experience.
- Compensation $70,000‑$103,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
