Location: Tsaile

A Clinical Pharmacist at Indian Health Service provides direct pharmaceutical care for patients, managing chronic disease states and acute cases while serving as the primary source of pharmaceutical clinical information.

Duties
  • Responsible for proper interpretation and dispensing of prescribed products, including review of labeling, directions for use, and precautions.
  • Provide specialized services to assist patients in managing conditions such as diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, and other chronic illnesses.
  • Provide information and advice about drug therapy, drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and medication storage.
  • Maintain records such as pharmacy files, patient records, inventories, and controlled drug records.
  • Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by physicians, dentists, and other licensed practitioners, calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
  • Serve as a pharmacy consultant and advisor to committees such as the therapeutic agents committee, hospital research committee, and infection control committee.
Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Background Investigation and pre‑employment fingerprint check are required.

Confidential Financial Disclosure Form required.

Qualifications
  • Degree: Doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by ACPE.
  • Licensure: Pass NAPLEX and MPJE, and be licensed to practice in a U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
  • Medical Requirement: Ability to distinguish basic colors.
  • Experience: Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and competencies of clinical pharmacy, including dispensing, medication reconciliation, patient counseling, and medication management.

Experience may include volunteer work, paid or unpaid positions in professional, philanthropic, religious, or community organizations. 3+ years of progressive graduate education or a comparable level of experience may be considered for GS‑11 or GS‑12 grades.

Employment Terms

Background investigation, fingerprint and security clearance are required. On‑call hours or standby duty may be required. Successful E‑Verify employment verification check is required.

Direct deposit set‑up is required for payment.
