Salary Range: $91,225.00 - $ per year

- Directly supervises and supports respiratory therapists.
- Directly supervises and evaluates respiratory therapists performing blood gas analysis and related procedures.
- Develops staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for respiratory therapy hospital services and blood gas laboratory operations.
- Manages leave requests and processes timesheets.
- Monitors employee performance and completes employee performance evaluations for respiratory therapists.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution as appropriate.
- Monitors workplace activities and workplace environment.
- Collaborates with medical staff, nursing staff and other hospital departments to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Supervises staff; directs the day‑to‑day work activities, conducts annual performance reviews, approves leave and timecards, handles employee discipline and monitors activities of the Respiratory department.
- Oversee the delivery of safe and effective respiratory therapy services in accordance with physician orders, evidence‑based practice, and hospital policies.
- Assists daily operations, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance of the blood gas laboratory.
- Assists with quality control, calibration, proficiency testing, and troubleshooting blood gas analyzers.
- Assigns and assesses patient care workloads.
- Participate in patient assessments and assist in managing complex respiratory cases.
- Monitor and measure patient care outcomes.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), bar code medication administration (BCMA), Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS).
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards (CMS, CAP, CLIA, NFPA).
- Responds to emergency situations (Rapid Response, CODE BLUE and Incident Command System).
- Participates in Incident Command System (ICS) and Emergency Preparedness planning and operations.
- Facilitates orientation, ongoing education, and competency validation for respiratory therapy services and blood gas laboratory operations.
- Promote professional development and continuing education opportunities.
- Promote adherence to clinical protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinates with the Clinical Education Department for the provision of training and development of hospital staff.
- Actively participates in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives for the respiratory therapy services and blood gas laboratory.
- Monitors documentation and patient records for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and state/federal regulations.
- Investigates, identifies causative agents and contributing factors for reported incidents, corrective action as appropriate.
- Ensures equipment is maintained, safe and readily available for patient use.
- Develops and manages policies and procedures pertaining to the Respiratory Therapy Department and Blood Gas Laboratory operations.
- Participates in staff meetings, interdisciplinary rounds and hospital committees.
- Participates in strategic planning for respiratory therapy services and hospital‑wide initiatives.
- Develops and manages the departmental budget.
- Assists with supply inventory control, equipment management and budget related duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Three (3) years clinical respiratory therapy experience, including one (1) year supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
- Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Current, active and unrestricted Respiratory Care Practitioner State License in any U.S. State.
