Manages the plant human resources function as directed.
What will you be responsible for?- Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents as required.
- Supports development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
- Provides administration and supervision of the plant human resources function as directed.
- Provides and maintains plant personnel policies and procedures in accordance with plant, group, and corporate guidelines.
- Administers wage, salary, and benefits programs in the plant in accordance with group and corporate policies.
- Ensures plant staffing needs are met by managing succession planning, recruiting, selection, and placement of candidates for plant positions.
- Ensures all pre-employment requirements are completed in a timely manner (interviews, post-offer physicals, drug tests, background checks, and reference checks).
- Provides and maintains employment practices in compliance with fair employment laws (EEOC, ADA, Civil Rights Act, Affirmative Action Plans).
- Oversees workers compensation investigations, information and programs.
- Coordinates training programs and tracks results.
- Maintains plant personnel functions and records including promotions, merit reviews, disciplinary actions, and policy implementation.
- Provides effective new employee orientation programs.
- Develops programs in employee relations to maintain a climate of trust and confidence.
- Develops and monitors plant safety rules in accordance with guidelines and regulations; arranges and administers plant safety programs as needed.
- Identifies and implements human resource processes to ensure operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
- Administers the collective bargaining agreement and addresses union-related issues as applicable; participates in collective bargaining as applicable; maintains positive relations with union officials.
- Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer; follows SOPs for area of responsibility.
- May coordinate resources for emergency response and maintain familiarity with the facility’s contingency plan and environmental responsibilities.
- Communicates with federal, state, and local authorities as required and advises environmental management on related activities.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships within the department, division, and company; manages stress and fosters a productive work environment.
- Work schedule commonly 5 days on (Mon-Fri) but may include weekends; overtime, on-call as directed by management.
- Performs administrative activities for effective management, including selection/development of employees, salary administration, budgeting, safety, counseling, and motivation to meet objectives.
- Maintains awareness of hazardous waste management and environmental requirements by attending training and following procedures.
- Complies with environmental regulations when handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste.
