Job Description
UL Solutions will be installing a solar monitoring system (SMS) near Holbrook, AZ on behalf of one of our clients. The station occupies 650 sq ft and consists of solar panels, two 7-foot tripods, and scientific measurement equipment, all surrounded by a locked chain link fence. The station will monitor solar irradiance and other meteorological and weather-related parameters.
The station requires weekly maintenance, on the same day each week during daylight hours, to ensure consistent and accurate data collection for a minimum of 1 year and up to 2 years. Your duties will include:
Each maintenance visit should take approximately 60-90 minutes. Additionally, UL Solutions requires a weekly Excel logbook upload via the internet, along with supporting photos and documentation, which should take 45-90 minutes. The total estimated time per week, including travel, is between 2-4 hours.
Occasionally, UL Solutions may request assistance with equipment replacement or troubleshooting. A Senior Engineer will contact you to guide you through the process, providing support onsite and reviewing data post-repair.
Qualifications
No prior solar experience is required; training will be provided remotely via phone and video, with potential onsite training when possible.
You must be able to follow instructions remotely throughout the contract.
You need reliable transportation to and from the remote SMS location, which is on undeveloped land accessed via unpaved roads; a 4WD/AWD vehicle is required.
You should be willing and able to walk to and from the site, typically no more than ¼ mile one way.
Climbing and working comfortably from a 6 or 8-foot ladder (provided) is necessary.
Maintenance involves using levels, screwdrivers, and other hand tools (provided).
You must demonstrate computer literacy and reliable internet access, with the ability to upload photos with proper naming conventions to our SharePoint.
A smartphone is required for site photos and communication with UL Solutions staff during onsite activities or emergencies. A laptop or desktop is recommended for weekly uploads.

Salary:
$150 per weekly visit ($600/month)
