This role is based at a large-scale smelting and rod manufacturing facility located in a historic mining region of the Southwestern United States. The operation processes copper concentrate from regional mining operations and serves as a major source of sulfuric acid for leaching activities across North America. The surrounding area offers a blend of natural beauty, rich mining heritage, convenient shopping, and a family-friendly community atmosphere, providing ample opportunities for outdoor recreation and quality of life.

Description

This position is for a highly skilled instrumentation and electrical technician performing at or above a CCST/EPRI Level II or equivalent. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the removal, repair, installation, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of process instrumentation and electrical systems. The employee may mentor or train other instrumentation and electrical personnel and will work under minimal supervision, with safe production as the primary objective.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Removal, repair, installation, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of process instrumentation and electrical systems to support process optimization
  • Safe completion of routine and non‑routine calibrations and repairs
  • Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of pneumatic instruments, control valves, pressure, flow, level, temperature, weigh scales, and analytical instrumentation
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), transmitter and control valve setup and diagnosis, electrical testing, and loop checking
  • Performing installations and renovations in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work area instructions, participating in safety and environmental activities, and using plant and equipment correctly at all times
  • Performing other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Completion of an approved certified program in instrumentation/control systems, electronics, or electrical;
    or
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in industrial instrumentation and electrical repair and maintenance;
    or
  • An associate degree or trade school certification in a related field with two (2) years of experience maintaining and repairing industrial automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems

Candidates must have completed the required academic and practical competencies and demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills in the field. Selection may require passing a written assessment based on technical knowledge, skills, abilities, and safety.

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing plant and may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity, moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, toxic chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, manual dexterity, climbing stairs and ladders, working on elevated platforms, talking, hearing, seeing, and working in confined spaces
  • Occasional lifting of moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) may be required
  • Rotating shifts are required in a 24/7/365 operation
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and additional protective equipment as necessary
