About the Role:

The Facilities Maintenance Tech I plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems and infrastructure across our facilities. This entry-level position focuses on performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to support the overall functionality and appearance of the physical environment. The technician will work closely with senior maintenance staff and facility managers to address issues promptly, minimizing downtime and maintaining compliance with safety standards.

By proactively identifying potential problems and executing preventive maintenance, the role contributes to extending the lifespan of equipment and reducing operational costs. Ultimately, the Facilities Maintenance Tech I helps create a safe and comfortable environment for all employees and visitors through diligent upkeep and responsive service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between facilities as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a vocational or technical training program in facilities maintenance or a related field.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (School Dude).
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Basic welding or carpentry skills.
  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
  • Assist in the installation, testing, and calibration of new equipment and systems under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and inventory of supplies and parts.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Support facility upkeep by performing general repairs, painting, carpentry, and grounds maintenance as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with facility management to prioritize and schedule maintenance work.
