Product Technician – Product Technician
The Product Technician at GAF is responsible for all aspects of production and related duties in the operations of the Resin facility. The position is cross‑trained to cover Resin Blend, Dissolve Blend, Shipping & Receiving, Packaging & Warehousing, Tank Cleaning, Sample Making, QA Testing, Facility & Grounds Upkeep, Safety, and other support duties. The Product Technician reports to the Production Supervisor of the Liquid Resin Facility.
Job Summary- Resin Blend Duties: Monitor reaction inhibitor and Glycol levels; document inhibitor replacement; condition raw materials up to 48 hours ahead of schedule; weigh and identify proper raw materials; follow detailed mixing instructions; label blend containers; handle inventory documentation; set up computer controls.
- Dissolve Blend Duties: Perform all Resin Blend tasks plus apply correct vacuum pressure; monitor dissolver oil level.
- Shipping & Receiving Duties: Unload lab‑approved raw materials; load finished products; inspect placement, securing, packaging, identification, and quantity of all material; report non‑conformances; update inventory control systems; manage shelf life through inventory rotation.
- Packaging & Warehousing: Label pails with product information and barcodes; fill and secure pails; stack and shrink‑wrap pallets; transport pallets; package catalysts and accessories with correct labeling.
- Tank Cleaning: Clean tanks, agitators, discharges, and valves; inspect valve seals; recycle cleaning solvent; properly label solvent storage.
- Sample Making: Create product and system samples for marketing; construct specialty samples; package and ship samples to designated locations.
- QA Testing: Perform quality assurance testing per instructions; notify QC engineer of non‑conformances; follow corrective actions and retest.
- Facility & Grounds Upkeep: Maintain outdoor grounds and indoor cleaning tasks; perform routine painting or cleaning of air‑handling equipment.
- Safety: Comply with all safety regulations; use prescribed PPE; observe anti‑static, lock‑out/tag‑out, and hot‑work permits; participate in safety meetings; report hazards; propose safety improvements.
- Other Areas of Responsibility: Provide backup duties at membrane facility; serve on action teams and committees; comply with environmental regulations and SIPLAST Quality System.
