Job Title

Plant Level OpEx Coordinator

Summary

The Skyline Champion Operations Excellence (OpEx) Team is a culture developed in-house with proven lean six sigma tools and process improvement techniques to achieve excellence nationwide. Under the direct supervision of the General Manager, the OpEx Coordinator will lead the plant's continuous improvement initiatives designed to eliminate waste and non-value-added activities and improve performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory.

The position communicates directly with the OpEx Leadership Team and the General Manager to achieve the sustainability of all implementations and reporting efforts. A local OpEx Coordinator will enable plants to reach and aspire to more ambitious operational cost reduction targets, aligning tasks with reducing costs and lead times while maintaining a healthy pipeline of improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead plant OpEx efforts, implementing, training, and following up on the plant's overall OpEx strategy.
  • Develop and execute a training plan for associates, supervisors, and managers to integrate best practices into daily processes.
  • Collect and validate data, track performance, and report findings using spreadsheet tools.
  • Assist in and lead the plant's onboarding process on specific OpEx subjects.
  • Own OpEx Value Stream Map findings, periodically reporting progress on the Kaizen Journal.
  • Follow through with PVA audits and update the PVA team on progress.
  • Ensure proper equipment set up based on OpEx team requirements.
  • Guarantee that training, tools, best practices, and resources are available and effectively utilized at all levels.
  • Lead reporting and root‑cause analysis; coach improvement activities to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory.
  • Coordinate initiatives with other OpEx team members for consistency.
  • Attend regular OpEx calls and follow through with action items.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of manufacturing, building industry, or production experience.
  • Basic computer skills for Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with others to communicate and train plant employees in OpEx tools via MS Teams.
  • Engaged and willing to learn new concepts and remain open to different opinions.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, recommend, and implement strategies addressing plant and corporate objectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and influence without direct reporting authority.
  • Conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills.
  • Capacity to maintain high confidentiality.
  • Efficiently handle multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Travel occasionally for training or corporate visits.
  • Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher) is a plus.
