Position: College Nurse (Fresno City College) Part-Time Faculty Pool
Location: College City

Overview

College Nurse (Fresno City College) Part-Time Faculty Pool. This posting creates an applicant pool for part-time faculty positions at Fresno City College within SCCCD International Education. Applications are reviewed by the hiring department when vacancies arise. This is a continuous recruitment posting; there is no set closing date and start dates may vary.

Responsibilities
  • Providing professional nursing assessment through standards set by the California Nurse Practice Act and Title V at Fresno City College campus and off-site locations.
  • Assessing students for self-care needs or referrals to appropriate medical providers.
  • Collaborating on crisis team management and emergency care as needed.
  • Maintaining confidential student and staff medical records.
  • Establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with the medical community.
  • Providing recommendations regarding health, wellness, public health, and campus safety concerns.
  • Presenting current health education and wellness resources to students.
  • Participating in professional staff development activities for students, staff, and community members.
  • Participating in extracurricular and community activities.
  • Supporting and working closely with the College Trainer in sports medicine.
  • Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and a commitment to equity-minded practice.

  • Master’s in nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate; OR
  • Bachelor’s in nursing AND a California Public Health Nurse certificate AND a master’s in health education, sociology, psychology, counseling, health care administration, public health, or community health.
Licenses, Certificates And Other Requirements

Current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities.
  • Experience working with racially and culturally diverse students and understanding historical patterns of exclusion in higher education.
  • Willingness to examine and adapt practices to better engage racially minoritized students.
  • Related work and professional experience; ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
  • Computer skills and ability to use technologies for instruction and student support.
  • Strong communication skills with students and staff.
  • CPR Instructor’s Certificate;
    Audiometric Certificate.
  • General nursing experience; public health, school/college nurse, or occupational health experience.
  • Ability to work in an independent health setting with a collaborative team; maintain confidential records.
  • Ability to write nursing protocols and maintain health information data.
  • Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
Salary and Benefits
  • Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule; salary placements based on education and experience as outlined in the schedule.
  • Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.

The selection and hiring process for part-time faculty is governed by the hiring department. If there is interest in your application, the hiring department will contact you directly for questions or to extend an interview opportunity.

Please note: This position does not have a closing date and applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. You will be placed in a continuous pool. Start dates may vary. If you are no longer interested, withdraw your application. Your application will remain on file for 18 months. If not interviewed or selected within 18 months, a new application will be required.
