General Manager – Building/Construction Products (East Anglia)
Opportunity has become available for a sales‑and‑commercially focussed General Manager who will have full P&L and budget responsibility for a rapidly expanding manufacturing business in the construction supply chain.
We are looking for a candidate with proven sales and commercial leadership capabilities in a high‑quality environment, a customer‑focused approach, strong contacts and understanding across the construction supply chain working with key contractors and specifiers.
Responsibilities- Lead, mentor and develop direct reports and the wider employee base, providing guidance and an environment in which they can thrive and achieve their potential.
- Have proven experience of working with NEC contracts and related commercial negotiations/administration.
- Control all aspects of the business including forecasting and budgeting.
- Manage key customer and supplier relationships to be the voice of the customer within the business and to grow these relationships.
- Monitor industry trends and technology advancements to reduce costs and ensure the business remains competitive.
- Develop strong relationships across the business to understand market requirements and drive manufacturing innovation, especially for bespoke projects.
- Ensure that KPIs are managed and maintained to a satisfactory level.
- Demonstrable senior sales/commercial experience in construction materials manufacturing.
- Experience or specialist knowledge in production (desirable).
- Understanding of the construction value chain.
- Ability to sell innovative technical solutions rather than just single products.
- A structured approach to sales leadership with a background in adding value through training, mentoring, coaching and supporting teams.
- An open and likeable personality with honest and open communication, integrity.
- Ideally experience of working within an entrepreneurial SME manufacturing business.
- Strong analytical mindset who understands their business inside and out, including performance, forecasting and EBIT/profit focus.
- Located within commuting distance of the Head Office in East Anglia.
