Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

The Maintenance employee must work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. The maintenance employee job requires maintaining rolling stock, sprinkler systems, shavings bin, general maintenance throughout mill, diagnosing and repairing sawmill and other equipment. There may be occasional weekend and night duty, and at times exposure to the elements. The role involves cleaning up oil spills from equipment in the shop, removing parts after installing new parts, and keeping the shop clean.

This position requires a self‑motivated individual who will work safely in a team‑based system. The employee must have the ability to schedule work, prioritize workload, and complete tasks in a timely manner. Good troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis skills are required to make proper repairs. Preventive and predictive skills are required to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must.

A desire for continuous improvement of technical skills and quality workmanship is required to meet our customers' increasing demands.

• Works safely and follows all related policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
• Reading blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work requirements.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, and conveyors according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• 0machinery and parts during the installation, set‑up and repair of machinery.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
• Other job tasks and projects as assigned.

• AC/DC wiring methods.
• AC/DC drives/motors.
• PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, B&R, Beckhoff).
• Touchscreens.
• Mechanical systems (bearing, alignment, chains, belts).
• Pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Design and fabricating.
• Preventive & predictive maintenance on production machinery.
• Mill and Lathe experience is a plus.
