The Park Superintendent II is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operations of a state park, ensuring effective maintenance, visitor services, and protection of natural and cultural resources. This role blends leadership, operational oversight, and customer service to enhance public access, safety and enjoyment of the park.

• Oversee daily park operations, including facility maintenance, recreational programs, visitor services, and enforcement of state regulations.
• Maintain trails, campsites, recreational areas and park facilities to high standards.
• Assist with emergency preparedness and response planning, ensuring visitor safety.
• Supervise staff (facility staff, interpreters, rangers, maintenance workers, seasonal employees, volunteers): interview, hire/fire, assign, review, counsel and evaluate performance.
• Provide customer service to park visitors and address public inquiries.
• Oversee educational and recreational programs aligned with conservation and heritage goals.
• Manage reservations, special events, group tours, budget planning, expenditure tracking and revenue generation activities.
• Monitor concessionaire agreements, fee collection and park retail operations.
• Prepare operational reports, maintenance logs and grant proposals to support park funding.
• Monitor natural habitats, wildlife populations, invasive species, land restoration and ecological protection projects.

• Ability to supervise, train and resolve conflicts.
• Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, budgeting, procurement and operational planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; public speaking and presentation abilities.
• Knowledge of park operations, recreation management and facility maintenance.
• Familiarity with environmental conservation laws, safety regulations and state policies.
• Competence in basic financial management, reporting and data analysis.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment, vehicles and tools safely.
• Understanding of hiking trail upkeep, wildlife management and habitat preservation.
• Awareness and ability to respond to first aid, CPR and emergency response protocols (training provided).

At least three years of experience in park management, natural resource management, outdoor recreation administration or a related field, including one year in a leadership capacity.
