Overview

Special Education Teacher

Job Goal:
This position is responsible for planning instruction and curriculum modifications for included special needs students that allow them to meet high standards and succeed in typical settings. The focus of this position will be leading small group instruction and supporting inclusion in other subjects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instruction to students within the small group and co-teach in the regular education classrooms. This includes planning and teaching in a small group program class.
  • Plan and modify the regular curriculum.
  • Consult with regular education staff.
  • Monitor student progress.
  • Develop IEPs and determine goals and objectives.
  • Prepare progress reports.
  • Maintain contact with parents.
  • Attend building learning team meetings.
  • Direct the work of teaching assistants.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Building Principal and/or Special Education Administrator.

    Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.

    The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience.
