Job Description

Arlington High Schoolis looking for an enthusiastic educator to join our team as a Special Educator for the
2026-27 School Year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Education
  • Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Special Education Teacher at the High School level (Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities)
  • Experience working with children with special needs and interest in working with students at the High School Level.

Job Goal:

Responsible for planning instruction and curriculum modifications for special needs students that allow students to meet high standards and success in typical settings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instruction to students, both within the regular education classroom and outside the regular education classroom. This includes planning and teaching along with the regular classroom teacher in an inclusive regular education setting.
  • Plan and modify regular curriculum.
  • Consult with regular education staff.
  • Monitor student progress in regular education program.
  • Develop IEP, determine goals and objectives.
  • Prepare progress reports.
  • Organize and chair team meetings and other meetings.
  • Administer testing for evaluations and end of term/end of year reporting.
  • Maintain contact with parents.
  • Attend building learning team meetings.
  • Direct the work of teaching assistants.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Building Principal and/or Special Education Administrator.
  • Arlington has a well established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year.

    Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.

    The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience.

    Salary: $60,100 to $76,413 Per Year
