Position Title

Position Title: Property Accountant

Summary

The Property Accountant will support the organization by managing full-cycle accounting responsibilities across multiple entities. This role requires strong knowledge of general financial accounting, exceptional organizational skills, and a high attention to detail. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Key Responsibilities

(Other duties may be assigned)

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Process cash receipts and disbursements, maintain cash books, and record daily and monthly transactions, including adjusting journal entries.
  • Review invoices to ensure proper general ledger coding.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Review depreciation and amortization schedules and record related entries.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations for asset and liability accounts.
  • Prepare payroll allocations and related billbacks.
  • Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Produce audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Handle 1099 review, processing, and submission.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Entrata or similar property management/accounting software is preferred
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (equivalent education and experience will be considered)
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a multi-entity environment, property management, or student housing
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Extended periods of sitting and working at a computer
  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds
