** Under general supervision, the Business Intelligence Analyst conducts research and analysis to support key initiatives in economic development including business retention and expansion, attraction of industry clusters, marketing, entrepreneurship, and workforce development. This individual should excel at telling the City of Arlington story using various data and information points and create clear and compelling presentations and reports that can stand on their own or complement other materials.

The Business Intelligence Analyst produces recurring reports for internal and external audiences for strategic decision making and continually works for the highest standards in data analysis and reliability.

* ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* • Responsible for researching and gathering statistical information.  
• Compile, create, query, map and analyze economic, labor, and demographic data through primary and secondary research.  o Both from open data sources and subscriptions.  
• Maintain a current knowledge of economic and business conditions.  
• Monitor economic, demographic, and industry trends for relevance to various initiatives; and respond to research requests from internal and external sources.  
• Provides support and research on all related strategic projects and assists Arlington Economic Development Corporation (EDC) staff with implementation of various projects.  
• Assists in the development of reports, dashboards, and presentations; creates custom presentations as needed.  
• Assists in the assembly of research materials for clients and prospects.  
• Executes and continually improves recurring monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the EDC Board of Directors, City Council, staff, and community.  
• Drafts written summaries for data analysis completed.  
• Creates internal and external dashboards for real-time data analysis and sharing.  
• Responsible for producing and keeping up to date a data report release calendar.  
• Develops strategies to fully utilize and leverage data source subscriptions.  
• Develops systems for automating research when possible.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* • Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures.  
• Knowledge of local business economics, existing Arlington/Dallas/Fort Worth companies, area labor force dynamics, leading industry sectors, and other socio-economic and regional issues.  
• Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, specialized labor market tools, and word processing software  
• Knowledge of and experience with data manipulation, preferring experience in data analysis and visualization tools such as, MS Power BI, Python, and ArcGIS  
• Skilled in written communication, using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and with attention to detail.  
• Skilled in organizational and time management, in addition to problem-solving skills.  
• Skilled in Microsoft Office 365 software programs.  
• Skill with organization and attention to detail.  
• Skill in using PC Software including current Microsoft Office Suite of applications.  
• Skill in communicating professionally and tactfully with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.  
• Ability to work accurately while meeting deadlines with frequent interruptions.  
• Ability to work within a set schedule.  
• Ability to work independently under general instructions.  
• Ability to use analytical and decision-making skills to offer options and resolve problems in a variety of contexts  
• Ability to understand mathematical calculations involving fractions, percentages, and decimals.

• Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and collaborate with stakeholders to accomplish unit objectives.
