The Key Account Leader is responsible for owning high-impact customer relationships across an assigned territory and delivering sustained, profitable growth. This role leads complex commercial engagements, aligns internal capabilities to customer priorities, and shapes long-term account strategies in highly matrixed environments.
Key Account Leadership- Serve as the senior commercial lead for priority accounts within the region.
- Establish trusted, multi-level relationships with executive and operational stakeholders.
- Translate customer objectives into actionable commercial and growth strategies.
- Act as the escalation point for commercial, contractual, and operational challenges.
- Develop and execute multi-year account plans aligned to revenue, margin, and share objectives.
- Lead complex negotiations spanning pricing, terms, service models, and long-term agreements.
- Identify expansion opportunities across products, categories, and geographies.
- Balance growth ambition with profitability, risk management, and operational feasibility.
- Mobilize internal teams across sales, marketing, R&D, operations, finance, and supply chain to deliver against account priorities.
- Ensure coordinated execution across regions and business units.
- Drive accountability through clear performance metrics, governance, and cadence.
- Maintain deep understanding of customer business models, end-user needs, and market dynamics.
- Apply consumer, category, and competitive insights to inform commercial direction.
- Anticipate regulatory, compliance, and sustainability considerations impacting accounts.
- Own forecasting, pipeline visibility, and long-range planning for assigned accounts.
- Monitor performance against targets and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level updates and business reviews.
- Mentor and develop account and commercial team members, as applicable.
- Contribute to succession planning and talent development initiatives.
- Lead through influence in a matrixed organization without direct authority.
- 12+ years of experience in strategic account management or commercial leadership roles.
- Proven success managing complex, enterprise-scale customers across multiple regions.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including pricing, margin, and contract structures.
- Experience operating in regulated, technically complex, or innovation-driven industries.
- Experience supporting key accounts over $75MM
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presence.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
