Overview
This internship Program provides structured, hands-on training in the field of early childhood education. The position is designed to build professional skills, support workforce readiness, and prepare interns for future employment in education, childcare, or human services. Interns will gain practical classroom experience while developing transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, cultural competence, and leadership.
Training Program (8–12 Weeks)Introduction to center policies, licensing requirements, and safety standards.
Training on child development basics, classroom setup, and daily routines.
Assisting lead teachers with daily schedules and age-appropriate activities.
Learning classroom management techniques and supporting group learning.
Practicing activities such as storytelling, games, music, and creative play.
Supporting learning centers that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Observing and documenting children s progress.
Shadowing staff in family communication and reporting practices.
Leading small group activities with staff oversight.
Applying safety procedures, health standards, and sanitizing practices.
Engaging in reflection, evaluation, and career development planning.
- Assist in creating daily schedules and age-appropriate learning activities.
- Learn to set up and maintain safe, engaging learning environments.
- Support classroom instruction through stories, songs, games, and activities.
- Gain experience in observing, documenting, and supporting children s development.
- Participate in team meetings, orientation, and professional development sessions.
- High School diploma, equivalent, or current student in progress.
- Interest in education, childcare, youth development, or a related human services field.
- Patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm for working with children.
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills in a supportive environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (training may be provided).
- Mentorship and coaching from experienced early childhood educators.
- Structured 8–12 week program aligned with the Massachusetts Labor Internship Program.
- Development of transferable professional skills: leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and cultural awareness.
- Hands-on classroom experience that may lead to future employment opportunities in education or childcare.
- Completion of all orientation and training requirements.
- Active participation in assigned mentorship and workforce readiness activities.
- Adherence to nondiscrimination, workplace safety, and program standards.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for children, families, and staff.
