ROLE AND

PURPOSE:

The Advanced Academics Campus Coordinator partners with teachers and school staff to create systems to support student participation and achievement in Advanced Placement, Pre-AP, OnRamps and college readiness programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
  • Texas Teacher's Certification/Bachelor's Degree;
    Master's Degree preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of three years' teaching advanced academic level courses
Knowledge and

Skills:
  • Knowledge of strategies and materials for secondary academic and post-secondary programs
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, counselors, parents, and community
  • Ability to support teachers of advanced courses instructionally
  • Ability to organize and coordinate programs across campuses
MAJOR

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
  • Analyze and evaluate instructional program data and college-going measures to guide campus and program goals
  • Utilize program and district instructional resources and professional learning to support effective teaching and student learning
  • Assist campus leaders with planning of campus college testing, e.g., PSAT, SAT, ACT
  • Manage AP and IB campus testing
  • Facilitate campus and network advanced academic professional learning communities to guide program goals
  • Attend regularly scheduled district-led advanced academic trainings and PLCs
  • Oversee required advanced academic-related out-of-district travel and conference learning
  • Coach Advanced Academics teachers utilizing performance data from both formative and summative assessment
  • Orchestrate vertical alignment between Advanced and AP/IB teachers within disciplines.
II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
  • Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Promote the benefits and accessibility of advanced academic programs and a college-going culture to students, families, and staff
  • Promote best fit for individual student in the Advanced Academics choice continuum including open enrollment in advanced courses
  • Articulate and communicate the vision and goals of high academic achievement of students to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Lead college testing performance recognition and National Merit support
III. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
  • Serve as liaison between campus and Advanced Academics Department to ensure compliance with district, state, and program requirements
  • Serve as liaison with feeder junior high schools' staffs and teachers
  • Serve on Advanced Academics Committee and local PLCs to strengthen programs' best practices
  • Collaborate with AVID elective teachers to ensure students and staff are meeting program requirements
IV. ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
  • Exhibit a high proficiency in computer usage and instructional technology
  • Assist the campus principal with planning and promoting of subsequent years' budget, facilities, and staffing needs
V. STUDENT MANAGEMENT
  • Assist the district Advanced Academics team with campus and district enrollment management
VI. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
  • Coordinate campus recruitment activities to promote enrollment in advanced academic programs, including AP, IB, Onramps, utilizing available resources, e.g., data reports and AP Potential
  • Coordinate and update campus publications to ensure parent awareness of advanced academic programs
  • Promote the advanced academic programs through a variety of informational and communication venues, e.g., College Fair, school events, etc.
VII. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
  • Participates in ongoing professional development activities to ensure advanced academics programming fidelity
