Base pay range$75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
Position SummaryThe Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting, developing, and implementing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs that promote a safe, compliant, and risk-aware workplace. This role proactively identifies hazards, conducts comprehensive risk assessments, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of EHS principles, strong analytical skills, and a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as internal company standards.
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and track corrective actions to completion.
- Maintain accurate EHS documentation, metrics, and reporting for internal review and compliance requirements.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to integrate safety considerations into daily activities and project planning.
- Facilitate or deliver training on topics such as hazard communication, emergency response, PPE use, and safe operating procedures.
- Assist in managing safety programs such as ergonomics, chemical safety, industrial hygiene, and contractor safety.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees, conducting safety observations, and reinforcing best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in EHS roles with a strong background in hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to turn insights into actionable safety solutions.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHST, or equivalent (preferred but not required).
