Overview

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer to define and lead the mechanical design, operations, and thermal strategy for next-generation AI-scale data centers
. This role sits at the intersection of engineering innovation and high-performance computing—driving breakthroughs in cooling, efficiency, and mechanical reliability for hyperscale environments.

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, this leader will be the principal authority for mechanical systems design and operations
, guiding the evolution of advanced cooling topologies that support GPU-dense workloads and large-scale AI clusters. The ideal candidate combines deep technical mastery with proven leadership to architect sustainable, efficient, and globally replicable systems.

Key Responsibilities Mechanical Architecture & Strategy
  • Architect and own the end-to-end mechanical systems roadmap for AI-scale compute environments.
  • Define internal design standards, templates, and repeatable system patterns across all facilities to ensure uniformity, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary mechanical teams through design, construction, commissioning, and lifecycle operations.
  • Establish design governance frameworks to ensure mechanical scalability and energy efficiency across global deployments.
Advanced Cooling & Thermal Innovation
  • Develop and deploy next-generation cooling technologies such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling, immersion systems, and rear-door heat exchangers.
  • Oversee thermal modeling, CFD analysis, and airflow optimization to maintain ideal performance at maximum density.
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies
—phase-change cooling, AI-assisted thermal modeling, and novel heat-transfer materials—to push mechanical boundaries.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical and controls teams to achieve fully integrated and adaptive thermal-power architectures.
Operations, Reliability & Continuous Improvement
  • Direct mechanical system commissioning, testing, and handover to operations with measurable KPIs for uptime and efficiency.
  • Implement predictive analytics and real-time monitoring platforms to enhance system visibility, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Lead root-cause analysis of mechanical incidents and deploy resilience strategies that improve system availability and fault tolerance.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, qualification standards, and long‑term maintenance programs to sustain performance consistency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
    .
  • 12+ years of experience in data center, mission‑critical, or energy‑intensive environments.
  • Deep expertise in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, HVAC, and advanced cooling technologies
    .
  • Demonstrated leadership in hyperscale or GPU‑accelerated mechanical system design.
  • Strong background in CFD modeling, system optimization, and operational analytics.
  • Proven ability to guide multi‑disciplinary engineering teams and collaborate across electrical, controls, and operations groups.
  • Strong communicator capable of influencing both technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Bonus:
Experience in large‑scale mechanical system expansion and high‑density compute environments.
Why Join
