We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Forensic Engineer to perform on-site evaluations of storm-related structural damage and prepare detailed forensic reports for insurance claims. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands‑on fieldwork, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to insurance and legal audiences.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct on-site forensic investigations of residential and commercial structures following storms or other damage events
- Inspect and assess damage caused by hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, fires, and falling trees
- Collect and document field data including photographs, measurements, and structural observations
- Analyze findings to determine cause, extent, and significance of structural damage
- Prepare comprehensive written reports detailing conclusions and recommendations for insurance claims
- Provide technical documentation to support claim evaluations and repair recommendations
- Manage daily claim assignments and maintain accurate documentation from inspection through report completion
- BS degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas
- Based in Texas or able to work regularly within the state
- Forensic investigation experience on residential and commercial structures
- Ability to perform physical inspections, including climbing up to 30 feet on roofs with up to 40‑degree pitch
- Ability to access crawl spaces, attics, and other confined areas
- Physical condition adequate for on‑site inspections in varied environments
- Experience preparing and submitting findings for insurance claims
- Expertise in assessing storm and natural event damage (hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, fires)
- Ability to evaluate foundations, roof systems, framing, and structural components for condition and causation
- Experience working with insurance adjusters or third‑party claim administrators
- Strong technical writing skills for detailed reports intended for legal, insurance, or regulatory audiences
