Project Manager - Transportation
Location: Arlington, TX
About the Role:
This client-facing Project Manager will lead diverse transportation engineering and design projects for public clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of successful project delivery. 1 This role requires the ability to not only manage projects and clients but also contribute to business development and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert civil engineering design oversight, specializing in transportation projects (roads, highways, traffic studies, etc.).
- Define and manage project scope, goals, and deliverables for clients and internal teams.
- Oversee all aspects of assigned projects, from conception to completion, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Manage project budgets, resources, design quality, timelines, and project teams.
- Ensure timely client billing and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
- Conduct thorough reviews of plans, specifications, and work products before submittal.
- Exceed client expectations through proactive communication and high-quality deliverables.
- Secure signed change orders prior to commencing any out-of-scope work.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and engineers-in-training (EITs).
- Collaborate effectively with survey crews and other on-site personnel.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to new business development efforts.
- Utilize industry best practices and procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in relevant software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Contribute to the preparation of proposals, RFPs, and RFQs.
Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on transportation projects.
- Demonstrated experience in client communication and interaction, including the ability to discuss design elements effectively.
- Proven track record of client relationship management and project production.
- Excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to set and meet internal and client deadlines.
- Strong team building and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to manage and mentor engineering staff.
