As a Construction Inspector at WSB, you'll be at the forefront of our mission, supporting inspectors and engineers across various functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying, and roadway design. Your role will encompass a diverse range of responsibilities, from overseeing smaller construction projects to ensuring compliance with construction contracts. You'll delve into complex inspections, ensuring materials and processes meet our high standards, while also contributing to contract documentation and participating in key project meetings.

• Take charge of construction management duties on smaller projects, from resurfacing to bridge rehabilitation, ensuring every aspect meets our exacting standards.
• Conduct independent, complex inspections of roadways and structures, guaranteeing compliance with construction contracts and specifications.
• Lead or supervise routine inspections, ensuring consistency and quality across all projects.
• Utilize your expertise to perform intricate calculations and computations, contributing to project success.
• Document contract details meticulously, including field measurements and other necessary documentation.
• Engage in project meetings and reviews, contributing your insights and expertise to drive projects forward.

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology (4‑year curriculum) or Construction Management (4‑year curriculum) or degree in Civil Engineering Technology (2‑year curriculum) or Construction Management (2‑year curriculum) and two (2) years of progressive transportation technical experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency.
• High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.

Degreed Employee
:

• TXDOT Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor (WECS).
• TXDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
• TXSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).

Non‑Degreed Employee
:

• Passing scores on TXDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, and Basic Highway Plan Reading).
• Passing scores on TXDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 2 (Pavements, Bases and Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control).
• Passing scores on TXDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 3 (Earthwork, Bridges, Incidental Items).
• TXOT WECS.
• TXDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
• TXSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
