Position Summary
We are hiring a Surgical Neurophysiologist to join our growing clinical team. This position is open to both experienced neurophysiology professionals and entry-level candidates seeking structured training in intraoperative monitoring.
Depending on background and qualifications, candidates may be hired as an Experienced Surgical Neurophysiologist or as a Trainee Surgical Neurophysiologist
, with responsibilities and autonomy aligned accordingly. All roles support patient safety through high-quality intraoperative monitoring in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and supervising neurologists.
Key Responsibilities
(Responsibilities vary based on experience level)
Experienced Surgical Neurophysiologist
- Independently perform IONM during spinal, neuro, ENT, and other surgeries
- Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment in real time during procedures
- Identify and communicate significant waveform changes to surgical teams and oversight neurologists
- Document andmaintainhigh-quality intraoperative records
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to clinical education as needed
- Participate in continuing education and advanced case types (e.g., craniotomies, phase reversal, DCS)
Trainee Surgical Neurophysiologist
- Assist with patient preparation, electrode application, and monitoring setup in the operating room
- Observe and support neurophysiological data collection during surgical procedures
- Participate in structured, supervised training to become CNIM-eligible
- Maintainaccuratedocumentation and follow hospital safety and infection control protocols
- Travel between affiliated hospitals and surgical centers as needed
Qualifications
Experienced Candidates
- Prior IONM or neurodiagnostic experience
- Strong communication and decision-making skills in the OR
- Willingness to travel regionally if needed
Trainee / Entry-Level Candidates
- Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or a related field (preferred)
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a surgical/clinical setting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work early mornings andmaintainprofessionalism in high-stress environments
- Interest in pursuing CNIM certification
