Position Summary

The Software Development & Process Improvement Business Analyst serves as a strategic partner to stakeholders across the institution, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce operational friction, and enhance customer and employee experiences.

Working under the Project Management group, this role owns initiatives from discovery through solution implementation, collaborating with business units, technical teams, vendors, and project managers.

This role frequently supports software development efforts, including the creation of business and functional requirements, process mapping, and validation of solutions; and also recommends and implements non-software solutions such as workflow redesign, policy changes, and improved operational controls when applicable.

This role is critical to improving how the department operates. By partnering across the institution and helping teams define the right problems and solutions, the Business Analyst drives operational excellence, supports innovation, and ensures the delivery of high-quality improvements that make work easier and better for both employees and customers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Own projects from initiation through completion, serving as both Project Manager and Business Analyst for process improvement and software development initiatives, ensuring alignment to institutional priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders and staff across departments to understand business needs and operational challenges.
  • Facilitate structured discovery sessions and workshops to capture workflows, pain points, risks, and opportunities.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between the business and technical delivery teams.
Requirements & Solution Definition
  • Translate business needs into clear and actionable artifacts, including:
    • Business requirements
    • Functional requirements
    • User stories and acceptance criteria
    • Process maps, workflow diagrams, and use cases
    • Data requirements and reporting needs
  • Define scope, objectives, success measures, and non‑functional requirements (security, audit, compliance, performance).
  • Collaborate with PMO Leadership to ensure requirements align with scope, schedule, and deliverables.
Software Development & Delivery Support
  • Work with internal development teams, third‑party vendors, and IT stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of requirements and intended outcomes.
  • Coordinate and support user acceptance testing (UAT), including test case development, validation, and issue triage.
  • Validate that delivered solutions meet stakeholder requirements and are ready for production adoption.
Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency
  • Analyze current‑state workflows and recommend optimized future‑state processes.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and streamlining, such as:
    • Workflow automation and approvals
    • Data integration and reduction of manual entry
    • Reporting improvements
    • Standardization of operational processes
  • Recommend non‑software improvements when appropriate, including policy updates, process redesign, controls, and training.
Documentation & Communication
  • Produce clear and consistent documentation tailored to both technical and business audiences.
  • Provide regular status updates and progress summaries to stakeholders and PMO leadership.
  • Support change management activities such as training materials, job aids, internal communication, and adoption tracking.
Governance & Risk Awareness
  • Ensure solutions align with internal controls, regulatory expectations, audit requirements, and security standards.
  • Identify risks and dependencies early and document and communicate them clearly.
  • Participate in governance processes such as project intake, business case development, and prioritization.
Other Responsibilities
  • Support and promote the Bank vision, mission and core values, organizational structure and policies and procedures.
  • Remain highly focused, able to rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities and ensure resources are properly aligned.
