Fabrication Manager – Southeast Region
We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Manager to lead our fabrication facility supporting multiple branches across the Southeast region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piping and plumbing fabrication for a mechanical/plumbing contractor. This role requires a dynamic leader who can uphold the highest quality standards, enforce a robust safety culture, and ensure efficient operations that meet project deadlines.
The Fabrication Manager will play a key role in scheduling and manpower management to maintain optimal productivity, while closely collaborating with the BIM department and branch teams to deliver exceptional results.
- Direct and oversee daily operations of the fabrication facility, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
- Manage manpower allocation, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet production demands.
- Collaborate with the BIM department and branch managers to align fabrication schedules with project timelines.
- Develop and maintain schedules to ensure deadlines are consistently met across all projects.
- Monitor workload and capacity to optimize resource allocation.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure fabricated materials meet project specifications and industry standards.
- Enforce adherence to established safety protocols and promote a safety-first culture through regular training and inspections.
- Track labor productivity and implement strategies to reduce costs and maximize output.
- Identify opportunities to improve fabrication methods, streamline workflows, and introduce innovative solutions to enhance productivity.
- Implement and enforce standardized operating procedures for fabrication activities.
- Oversee inventory levels for materials, consumables, and fabrication equipment to prevent delays.
- Coordinate procurement of materials and consumables to align with project needs.
- Ensure fabrication equipment is properly maintained and operational at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of labor hours, material usage, and production output.
- Generate reports on fabrication efficiency, cost savings, and operational improvements for senior management.
- Ensure the facility complies with all applicable safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote and enforce a safety-first culture, conducting regular safety audits and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, preferably in piping and plumbing for mechanical/plumbing contractors.
- Proven track record of managing operations for multi-million-dollar construction projects.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and BIM models.
- Strong understanding of fabrication techniques, materials, and equipment used in piping and plumbing systems.
- Exceptional organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience in labor tracking, material management, and implementing efficiency improvements.
- Ability to analyze production data and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
- Previous experience with fabrication for large-scale mechanical and plumbing projects in the $500,000 - $50 million range.
- Familiarity with ERP or fabrication software for tracking and managing operations.
- Knowledge of industry trends and advancements in fabrication technologies.
