POSITION SUMMARYOversees the shipping / receiving department in their area of responsibility and ensures products are prepared for shipment in accordance with applicable purchase order shipping requirements. Inspects daily deliveries and distributes accordingly. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepares items for shipment in accordance with applicable customer purchase orders, customer specifications and approved part specific packaging / shipping plan (if applicable).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Inspects all deliveries against packing slip.
- Distributes items to applicable departments in a timely manner.
- Enters delivery details into computer and forwards paperwork to purchasing.
- Schedules and ships products upon completion.
- Completes appropriate paperwork such as packing slip lists and instructions.
- Prepares related reports (shipping, reject, reclaim, etc.).
- Keeps an inventory of all supplies for shipping and receiving area.
- Loads and / or unloads trucks as necessary.
- Builds crates and / or boxes as necessary.
- Drives a forklift to perform job functions.
- May drive company truck as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 3 years of shipping / receiving experience is required.
- Must possess an understanding of OSHA safety rules for warehouse work.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record to drive company vehicles.
- Basic mathematical skills (addition / subtraction, multiplication / division).
- Knowledge of weights and measures.
- Good communication skills.
- Good computer skills.
- Use of a computer and other office equipment (telephone, scanner, printer, etc.).
- Lifting up to 50 pounds; over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, sitting, climbing stairs, etc.
- Standing for long periods, up to 8 hours a day.
- Work in heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
