Registered Nurses in Diagnostic Imaging provide clinical expertise and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. In the Interventional Radiology Specials Department, RNs assess, plan, and care for patients undergoing diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures, working closely with Radiologists in a special‑procedures environment.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of patient health status, following standards of care and disease‑specific protocols.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize resources.
- Provide direct nursing care and supervise non‑licensed nursing staff within RN scope of practice and established policies.
- Educate and provide emotional support tailored to age, culture, condition, and circumstance; incorporate patient/family teaching.
- Use therapeutic communication daily.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Direct care using the nursing process with emphasis on individual patient needs.
- Evaluate effectiveness of the nursing process.
- Provide emotional support to patients and significant others for informed healthcare decisions.
- Delegate tasks to appropriate caregivers.
- Participate in Diagnostic Imaging specific initiatives and process improvement.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 60 months of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse license.
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
- 1 year of ER or ICU experience required.
- Experience with infant to adult radiology patients preferred.
- Experience with radiation safety required.
