Job Summary

The Research Scientist Assistant will provide comprehensive assistance to Dr. Dennis Lal and his research team by supporting day-to-day research activities and administrative functions. This role ensures smooth operations of research projects, compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements, and efficient coordination of resources.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, psychology, or related discipline) or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in a similar role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in research or research administration.
  • Experience with IRB processes and grant administration.
  • Experience and knowledge of data management tools and statistical software.
  • Familiarity with academic research environments and funding mechanisms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Research Support
  • Assist with data collection, organization, and preliminary analysis for ongoing research projects.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date research records, databases, and documentation.
  • Support preparation of research materials, including protocols, consent forms, and study‑related documents.
  • Coordinate scheduling for research‑related meetings, participant visits, and project timelines.
  • Help with literature reviews and reference management for manuscripts and grant proposals.
Research Administration
  • Prepare and process research‑related paperwork, including IRB submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews.
  • Monitor compliance with institutional, federal, and sponsor regulations.
  • Assist in budget tracking and expense reconciliation for research projects.
  • Support grant preparation by gathering required documentation and formatting submissions.
  • Serve as a liaison between the research team and administrative offices for procurement, travel, and reporting needs.
