Two postdoctoral fellowships are available in the Integrated Structural Biology (ISB) program at Umeå University, Sweden. The ISB environment offers a vibrant, international atmosphere with 19 research groups and close to 100 affiliated persons. Candidates will have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure for cryo
EM, NMR spectroscopy, supercomputing, and x-ray crystallography.
The fellowships are competitive and interdisciplinary, with the top candidates selected based on applications to six available projects. The program provides two years of funding, access to core facilities, and opportunities for collaboration across disciplines, including with MIMS (Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden).
Applicants should submit a CV, publications, certificates, and a motivation letter (1-2 pages) explaining their interest in the program and specific project. A one-page research plan is also required. Contact PIs for project discussions is encouraged. Applications should be emailed to ISB by October 15.
Projects include::
Using computer simulations and X-ray scattering to study conformational changes in membrane proteins. Lead:
Dr. Magnus Andersson.
:
Studying membrane interactions of LC3-PE using structural biology tools. Lead:
Lena Mähler.
:
Examining structure and changes of Opn3 and Opn5 using Cryo-EM and TR-WAXS. Leads:
Linda Sandblad, Magnus Andersson, Lena Gunhaga.
:
Characterizing TA complexes structurally and dynamically. Leads:
Karina Persson, Gerhard Gröbner, Gemma
C. Atkinson.
:
Structural and biochemical study of PBP1V in Vibrio cholerae. Leads:
Elisabeth Sauer-Eriksson, Felipe Cava, Magnus Andersson.
:
Analyzing environmental samples with microscopy, microbiology, and structural biology. Leads:
Jonas Barandun, Uwe H. Sauer, Natuschka Lee.
Submit your CV, publications, certificates, motivation letter, and a one-page research plan to ISB by October 15. Contact PIs for project discussions prior to application.
