District Manager, Independent Retail - Dallas
Johnson Brothers has merged with Maverick Beverage Company, creating a unified organization that brings exceptional wine and spirits to markets across Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Florida. We are seeking an experienced District Manager familiar with independent account sales to lead our Retail Specialists and Sales Consultants in the Dallas area.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop the Retail Specialist/Sales Consultant team to achieve and exceed sales goals.
- Spend 80% of the week in the market, with a day per week in the office, supporting sales and merchandising activities.
- Oversee new hire onboarding, training on Netsuite and internal processes, and continuous development.
- Route and manage daily deliveries and merchandising for Market Merchandisers.
- Enter orders, maintain accounts, and assist with retail deliveries as needed.
- Review account sales data, identify trends, reassign under‑performing accounts, and address issues or complaints.
- Execute full compliance on chain schematics, planners, and planograms.
- Collaborate with Operations to optimize route schedules and ensure timely deliveries.
- Manage sales orders and pricing to ensure correct margins.
- Promote new brand depletion, retail placement, and approved item sell- through.
- Serve as liaison between Chain Account Managers and the Retail Specialist team.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new talent.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of sales experience, 3+ years in the spirits or wine industry.
- 2+ years of managing a sales team.
- Experience working in a startup environment and proven track record of success.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Netsuite.
- Strong understanding of cost/pricing methodology and ability to motivate a team to exceed goals.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and good driving record.
- Physical ability to lift and carry a 40+ pound case of wine.
- Willingness to travel within the designated region and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, organized, prioritizes workload to meet deadlines, and works well both independently and in a team.
- Must complete and pass a criminal background check.

Compensation: $70,000 – $110,000 per year
