Job DescriptionJohnson Brothers has merged with Maverick Beverage Company, expanding its footprint across Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Florida. The Key Account Manager will generate and grow wine sales within the assigned territory, acquiring new business accounts and maintaining Johnson Brothers' high standard of customer service.
Responsibilities- Call on accounts in the assigned geographic territory to promote the Johnson Brothers portfolio.
- Prospect and open new accounts.
- Anticipate and evaluate customer needs and suggest suitable products.
- Develop sales and product knowledge and provide effective product education, including tastings.
- Regularly meet and exceed sales goals and quotas.
- Protect the interests of Johnson Brothers, supplier partners, and customers through strong business acumen.
- Manage time effectively to meet order deadlines and delivery cut‑offs.
- Communicate professionally with buyers to resolve issues promptly.
- Demonstrate leadership and entrepreneurial qualities.
- Attend and participate in regular team sales meetings.
- Publicly speak about products, events, or in Johnson Brothers staff trainings and other promotional events.
- Maintain a clean driving record and a current, valid state driver’s license.
- Use wine knowledge, distribution, and sales experience to support account growth.
- Ensure accounts are current on payments and collect payments when necessary.
- Organize supplier market work, communicating effectively and professionally with suppliers before, during, and after all market work.
- Treat all employees, management, vendors, and customers with respect at all times.
- Respond to buyer requests and inquiries with urgency and timeliness.
- Work nights and weekends on promotions and other account activities as required.
- Travel within the established geographic areas as necessary.
- Have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and meet company driving record and insurance requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma (Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered).
- Strong persuasive presentation skills with the ability to speak before large audiences.
- Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office.
- Background or experience in the beverage or restaurant/bar industry a plus.
- Knowledge of alcoholic beverage industry terms, production processes, and wine/spirits terminology.
- Passion for wine and spirits with ability to continuously learn new brands and represent them effectively.
- Physical ability to lift 25–50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and auto insurance coverage.
- Minimum age 21 to sell alcohol in Texas.
- Demonstrate a climate of courtesy, respect, and professionalism to coworkers and customers.
