Job DescriptionThe Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (I&E Tech) will be based in the Houston area. This is a Monday‑through‑Friday position with on‑call responsibilities at nights and weekends as needed. The role is ideal for experienced Industrial Electricians, Electrical and Controls Technicians, or similar professionals who are passionate about maintaining and improving electrical systems in water treatment facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install, inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic equipment, and maintain proper documentation.
- Perform preventive maintenance checks on pumps, compressors, drives, and auxiliary equipment.
- Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Comply with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and train employees when opportunities arise.
- Maintain electrical switch gear and power distribution.
- Oversee work performed by third parties.
- Keep up to date on Operations qualifications and required training.
- Travel weekly or daily to operating sites.
- Interface and communicate with customers and suppliers as required.
- Adhere to company safety, quality policies, and code of conduct.
- Proficiency with electronic test instruments and measurement devices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams.
- Proficiency with Google applications.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Experience replacing pumps.
- Experience with 120 V, 240 V, or 480 V wiring.
- Familiarity with VFDs, breakers, and conduit installation.
- Respond to callouts and emergencies within 1 hour during and after regular business hours.
- Live within an hour of Dallas.
- Available for overtime as anticipated.
- Strong computer skills; knowledge of Google applications, operating systems, and company software.
- Experience with water treatment equipment is a plus.
- Ability to work with a team and coordinate schedules.
- High attention to detail and adherence to work processes, standards, and requirements.
- Comfortable working from elevated platforms, excavated areas, ladders, stairwells, walkways, etc.
- Knowledge of simple programming and PLC software preferred.
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley hardware and software, and also Rockwell Automation.
