Maintenance Worker II

Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker II provides sub‑journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair tasks in one or more craft areas. Responsible for make‑ready duties in apartments & residence halls, painting, carpentry (countertops, doors, framing, drywall), furniture & equipment moving, light plumbing, basic appliance repair/installation, and light electrical.

• Two (2) years of experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair work.
• This position requires a Texas Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License and three (3) years of acceptable driving history.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in performing a variety of sub‑journeyman maintenance and repair tasks.

• Performs multi‑family housing & make‑ready duties including: sheet rock replacement and repair, plumbing, painting, appliance repair (removal and installation), light carpentry, cabinetry, ceramic tile repair, countertops, flooring repair including vinyl tile & plank, wall texture, door & hardware (installation and repair).
• Assists journeyman & carpenters in major repair, maintenance, or construction projects.
• Provides quality customer service and ensures a comfortable living environment for students in University Housing.
• Performs emergency mechanical repairs until journeyman or supervisory personnel arrive.
• Serves as essential personnel to the University and is required to report to work during campus emergencies and/or closures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Drives a UTA vehicle.
