Under general supervision, diagnose, maintain, repair, and service a wide variety of fleet vehicles, equipment, and specialized vehicles.

• Diagnose, perform maintenance, and repair on light vehicles and equipment.
• Service vehicles with fuel, oil, and coolant; perform preventive maintenance by checking items such as battery condition, tire air pressure, coolant and oil levels, and hydraulic and brake fluid levels.
• Coordinate with administration and other trades to complete projects/work orders efficiently.
• Perform and assist in the maintenance and repair of light, medium, and heavy vehicles and equipment to ensure availability.
• Conduct installation and removal of auxiliary equipment.
• Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Maintain tools and/or equipment to ensure safe operating condition.

• Ability to operate and give instruction for proper operation of light vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose vehicle and equipment failures using trade knowledge and diagnostic equipment, and determine proper repair methods.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance; ability to operate, calibrate, tune, synchronize, and perform complex adjustments on equipment such as motor vehicles, motorized equipment, mechanic tools, drill press, welder, forklift, hydraulic press, battery tester, steam cleaner, and power washer.
• Ability to explain, demonstrate, and clarify procedures to others within established policies, procedures, and standards.
• Ability to follow specific instructions and respond to simple requests.
• Basic arithmetic skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculate percentages and decimals.
• Ability to recognize and identify colors and odor to determine fluid conditions, shapes to distinguish objects, sounds to determine equipment operation, and textures to detect wear.

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least two years of related experience required.

Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) preferred.

• Prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and manual work.
• Occasional exposure to loud noises.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary.
• Ability to hear and see for safety.
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals.

• Background investigation required by federal, state, or local government.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (A, B, or C with specific endorsements) preferred.
• THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION.
