Job Overview

Under supervision of the Guest Service Shift Leader, provides first-line customer service and transportation to guests on the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA), for special events and tours, and during irregular operations and emergencies.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Operates a van or bus providing for internal and external DFW for special events or airport tours or when requested by the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) for airline hardstand operations, evacuation of disabled aircraft, or in the event of irregular operations, emergency, or disaster.
  • Assists disabled passengers by providing special transportation as required.
  • Completes passenger counts, mileage/time logs, malfunction, and accident reports.
  • Assists customers with luggage.
  • Inspects vehicle fleet for proper operation and physical condition.
  • Locates and retrieves lost items/passengers.
  • Responds to customer complaints to customer’s satisfaction within Board operating procedures or refers to Shift Lead for resolution.
  • Responds to customer injuries and emergencies; acts as initial point of contact during these events and relays emergency information to appropriate persons.
  • Fuels buses and staff vehicles daily, routinely removes trash/debris from inside vehicles and processes Regulated Garbage per federal policy, routinely drives buses and vans through washing and fueling facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Need
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience in a position requiring extensive public contact.
  • Possession Class B Commercial driver’s license with a passenger (P) endorsement.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, repeated as necessary within a 10-hour period.
  • Must be able to exert coupling forces from 8 pounds to 20 pounds 4 times per hour.
  • Must be able to maintain seated posture continuously for a period up to 10 hours.
  • Must be able to maintain standing posture up to 30 minutes at a time, intermittently during 10-hour periods.
  • Must pass a medical physical examination.
  • Must maintain Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Certificate.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge in accordance with TSA requirements within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each renewal.
  • Must meet all initial and recurrent training requirements in accordance with Title 14 CFR part 139 and administrative Policy AO.014.01, Ground Vehicle Driver Training for Air Operations Area (AOA) within 30 days of assignment to a driving position and before being permitted to operate the vehicle without the direct supervision of a qualified co‑operator.
  • This is a DOT safety‑sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol policy. Applicants will be required to pass drug and alcohol tests prior to employment and to submit to screening on a random basis during employment.
  • This is an Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport’s Categories and Classifications Policy. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public transportation.
  • Knowledge of Airport Board transportation standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and rotating shift assignments, 8‑hour shifts or 10‑hour shifts.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to prepare and maintain routine records and reports.
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly over two‑way radio.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships and to deal with difficult public relations issues.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Vision (near/far/depth) ability to operate controls onboard bus, safely drive and navigate through traffic.
