The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in revenue accounting, Accounts Receivable leadership, and intercompany processes across a multi-entity structure. This position is a backfill and offers immediate impact, visibility, and the opportunity to mentor and elevate a growing AR function.
This role reports directly to the Assistant Controller and partners closely with Financial Reporting and other accounting leaders.
How You Will Contribute Revenue Accounting- Oversee revenue recognition for contributions, pledges, and earned revenue in accordance with US GAAP and nonprofit standards
- Review and approve complex transactions under ASC 606 and ASC 958
- Maintain and enhance revenue accounting policies and documentation
- Partner with Financial Reporting to ensure accurate reconciliations and disclosures
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the AR team, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, cash application, and pledge tracking
- Design and implement scalable AR processes, including invoicing and collections
- Oversee validation of donor documentation and donor-related accounting
- Drive automation and efficiency improvements within AR operations
- Help elevate the technical capabilities of the AR team and foster a culture of accuracy and accountability
- Own the intercompany invoicing process across approximately 16 entities
- Perform monthly intercompany reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
Ensure compliance and proper documentation for all intercompany transactions
- Maintain strong internal controls over revenue, receivables, and intercompany activity
- Prepare audit schedules and act as a key liaison with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
- Mentor and develop AR staff with a focus on technical growth and continuous improvement
- Promote collaboration, ownership, and proactive problem‑solving across teams
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
, including revenue recognition and AR, with 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory capacity - Strong knowledge of US GAAP
, including ASC 606 and ASC 958 - Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, analysis)
- Experience with modern accounting systems (e.g.,
Sage Intacct
, Salesforce, Concur, Flo Qast) - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Prior experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
- Exposure to pledge accounting and donor‑restricted funds
- A passion for process improvement, automation, and leveraging technology
- A “details matter” mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Comfort navigating ambiguity with a high degree of ownership
