Senior Accountant I – Management Sciences for Health
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant I is responsible for general accounting and treasury operations of the organization. This includes ensuring the MSH books are closed and reconciled accurately and timely at monthly, quarterly, and annual intervals, maintaining compliance with GAAP, the organization’s Cost Accounting Standards, and federal and contractual requirements. The role supports external audit activities worldwide and monitors daily cash flow in accordance with U.S. and International Banking Regulations.
Responsibilities- Prepare, review, and post journal entries and cash receipt entries
- Support field offices with the monthly close
- Reconcile general ledger accounts for headquarters and field offices
- Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financials
- Ensure proper invoicing and revenue recognition
- Support the annual external audit and other compliance audits
- Assist in preparing the annual consolidated financial statements, annual report, Form 990, and other compliance activities
- Assess cash needs of the organization
- Fund MSH accounts and field offices as required
- Support cash receipts and disbursement entries
- Maintain bank accounts globally
- Manage and reconcile letters of credit with banks and donors to ensure compliance with donor requirements
- Collaborate and coordinate with other departments
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 4–6 years of relevant experience
- Excellent communicator with strong writing skills
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint preferred
- Ability to work in an office environment and travel to countries where MSH operates (up to 10%)
The expected salary range for this position is $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 annually (U.S. locations only). Work ArrangementSelected candidates will have a flexible schedule combining remote and in‑office work from an MSH U.S. office at a set frequency.
