TAPS National Headquarters – Arlington, VA

TAPS is the national nonprofit organization providing compassionate care and comprehensive resources for all those grieving the death of a military or veteran loved one.

Since 1994, TAPS has provided comfort and hope 24/7 through a national peer support network and connection to grief resources, all at no cost to surviving families and loved ones.

TAPS provides a variety of programs to survivors nationally and worldwide. Our National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp has been held annually in Washington, D.C., over Memorial Day weekend since 1994. TAPS also conducts regional survivor seminars for adults and youth programs at locations across the country, as well as retreats. Our staff can connect survivors to counseling in your community and help navigate benefits and resources.

Description:

The incumbent will work out of our headquarters office supporting senior management and program staff. The incumbent will create and maintain administrative processes to support the efficient and effective implementation of TAPS business functions, programs, and services.

Responsibilities Administration
  • Maintain office supplies
  • Manage reception desk
  • Maintain files
  • Answer phones and receive guests
  • Receive and distribute mail
  • Manage the relationship with the building management informing staff of any building event or repair
  • Manage parking
  • Manage recording of fobs for new hires and building gym forms
  • Develop and manage an inventory system for all storage locations
  • Mail materials as requested
  • Support Headquarter functions
  • Support Headquarter volunteers
Special Projects – Honor Wall of Remembrance
  • Manage the Honor Wall of Remembrance
  • Connect with Survivors on their wording and picture
  • Keep accurate inventory
  • POC with supplier and wall designer
  • Update and maintain order information
  • Schedule meetings with survivors to view the Honor Wall.
  • Support National Military Survivor Seminar (Memorial Day weekend)
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the military
  • College degree or equivalent in work experience.
  • 3-5 years administrative experience.
  • Highly developed communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking ability.
  • Excellent organizational and math skills.
  • Advanced Outlook, Word, and Excel skills.
  • Emotional maturity, discretion, excellent judgment.
  • Ability to work well with remote colleagues and volunteers
