Job Description & How to Apply Below

Don Shaw Law is a boutique estate planning firm known for clear communication, exceptional client service, and a practical, human approach to planning. We are opening a new Arlington office in early 2026, and we are hiring a full-time Legal Assistant to provide essential administrative and client support across the firm.

This role is central to keeping our attorneys focused, our matters organized, and our clients cared for. If you’re detail-oriented, dependable, and take pride in keeping operations running smoothly, we want to talk to you.

What You’ll Do

Client Support & Intake

  • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for clients and prospective clients
  • Manage calls, emails, scheduling, and consultation logistics
  • Assist with client onboarding and internal task creation

Matter Management

  • Maintain organized digital files and document workflows
  • Track signature requirements, follow-ups, and matter deadlines
  • Prepare engagement agreements, correspondence, and routine forms

Attorney Support

  • Assist attorneys with meeting prep, follow-up tasks, and communication
  • Coordinate with notaries, financial advisors, and other third parties
  • Prepare binders, signing packets, and other client deliverables

Office & Operational Support

  • Support the launch and day-to-day operations of the new Arlington office
  • Assist with ordering supplies, managing equipment, and basic office upkeep
  • Collaborate closely with our Woodbridge staff to ensure consistent processes firm-wide
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Clear, professional communication — written and verbal
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Tech-comfortable:
Outlook, Word, PDF editing, cloud storage
  • Experience in a law firm or office with high client interaction preferred
  • Estate planning experience is a plus but not required — we will train

Most importantly, you should be someone who takes ownership of your work and values being the person others can depend on.

Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • A positive, supportive firm culture
  • Clear processes, low drama, and attorneys who respect staff
  • Opportunity for growth as the Arlington office scales
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Paid training and a long-term home for the right person
Location

This is an in-person position at our new Arlington office (Courthouse area). Occasional work in our Woodbridge office may be needed during the initial ramp-up.

NOTE TO APPLICANTS

Please do not call the office introducing yourself or asking for an update. As we work our way through the applications, we will contact you if we are interested in learning more about you.
