This opportunity involves conducting on‑site construction inspections, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and quality assurance procedures. Responsibilities include preparing contract documentation and following prescribed Quality Assurance and Quality Control protocols.

• Observe, document, and verify construction work to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans.
• Confirm that procedures are followed and materials meet specifications.
• Utilize engineering inspection practices for basic calculations and measurements of completed work.
  
  Maintain daily inspector reports of work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and material quantities.
• Assist in on‑site material testing and produce as‑constructed sketches as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 1 year of construction experience.
• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

• Prepare daily work reports, including quantities for payment and contractor personnel and equipment used.
• Perform quality assurance testing and sampling per specifications.
• Keep supervisors informed of problem areas.
• Ensure work conforms to plans and specifications.
• Communicate effectively regarding issues, objectives, and compliance initiatives.

• 3 years of construction‑related experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience on VDOT projects; prior work in the Hampton Roads District preferred.
• Working knowledge of VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Road and Bridge Standards, Construction Manual, and Inspector Manual.
• Ability to pass a background check required by the client.
